Paintings, prints and drawings are all made in a purpose built studio building
(pictured bottomish right)
Built in 2000 by Alex Abelman and friends, the building is designed to incorporate elements which are useful and practical.
Features I enjoy
- Top lighting at either end of the roof
- A tall 'working wall' on one side
- A north facing extremely large door, when open the workspace feels much like being outside but without the glare
- Printing press and adjoining work table under a window with a pleasing view
- The floor is elevated well above the surrounding ground/shingle level
- Lots of plug sockets in each corner
- Wooden walls that can be screwed or nailed into
- A ceiling fan - warm in winter/cool in summer

Edwardian train carriage revealed on the West-side beach "that which rises from the ashes of what was destroyed" - Early days on this diptych, adding structure in order to start a process of simplification. I'm after a certain mood... not unlike 1950's seaside tourist paintings/posters.
The Den/Base on Dungeness beach (now completed)

'The Base' an extensive wooden play den made by children on the beach at Dungeness.
I intend these smaller paintings be made in a loose painterly and playful manner - Using a bright and innocent palette, to match the ethos of the structure.
