These small oil paintings, which allude to the homes at Dungeness, are painted on two separate canvases
Each stretched canvas making up the skin of a Dungeness dwelling, each diptych making up part of a string of bright houses.

"I am not the only artist who has found the painted realisation of the shingle beach to be something of a challenge." The usual rules of reflected light and shadow on a textured composite mass are difficult to apply as a process. This playful exploratory project into the constituent tonal variations
